Although brought up as an Egyptian, Moses never forgot that he was one of the children of Israel. One day, Moses heard he voice od G-d calling him. "I have seen how my people are suffering in Egypt where they are treated as slaves. I will free them and give them a land oftheir own, a land flowing with milk and honey. You, Moses, must go and bring my people out of Egypt".

"But how am I to do this?" asked Moses.

"I will be with you", said G-d. "You must tell them that I am the G-d of their ancestors, the G-d of Abraham and Isaac, and they will follow you. You must go to Pharaoh and ask him in my name to release the Israelites. He will be angry and refuse your request. But I will curse Egypt and cause such horrors to fall upon the land that Pharaoh will no longer defy me, and he will let you go".
