Copyright and Trademark Issues

While we are not obligated to review Content for copyright or trademark infringement, we are committed to protecting copyrights and trademarks and expect users of our Site and Haggadot.com Services to do the same. The Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998 (the “DMCA”) provides recourse for copyright owners who believe that material appearing on the internet infringes their rights under U.S. copyright law. If you believe in good faith that any material used or displayed on or through our Site or the Haggadot.com Services infringes your copyright, you (or your agent) may send us a notice requesting that the material be removed, or access to it blocked. The notice must include the following information:

a physical or electronic signature of a person authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed; identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed (or, if multiple copyrighted works are covered by a single notification, a representative list of such works); identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing or the subject of infringing activity, and information reasonably sufficient to allow us to locate the material on our Site and/or the Haggadot.com Services; the name, address, telephone number and email address (if available) of the complaining party; a statement that the complaining party has a good faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; and a statement that the information in the notification is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that the complaining party is authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed.

If you believe in good faith that a notice of copyright infringement has been wrongly filed against you, the DMCA permits you to send us a counter-notice. Notices and counter-notices must meet the then-current statutory requirements imposed by the DMCA; see http://www.copyright.gov for details. DMCA notices and counter-notices regarding our Site and the Haggadot.com Services, or notices concerning trademark use in personalized products we make or in our Site and the Haggadot.com Services, should be sent to:

Haggadot.com PO Box 385 Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 [email protected]

Upon receipt of a compliant DMCA Takedown Notice, Haggadot.com will investigate the claim, take appropriate action and serve the notice on our member. If a member submits a DMCA Counter-Notice, Haggadot.com will forward such notice to the party that submitted the relevant DMCA Takedown Notice and allow the member to repost the disputed content after 10 days, as provided by law. Haggadot.com reserves the right to terminate the account of any member who repeatedly infringes the copyright rights of others, as determined in Haggadot.com’s sole discretion.

We Remember Them by Sylvan Kamens & Rabbi Jack Riemer

by Haggadot

At the rising sun and at its going down; We remember them. At the blowing of the wind and in the chill of winter; We remember them. At the opening of the buds and in the rebirth of spring; We remember them. At the blueness of the skies and in the warmth of summer; We remember them. At the rustling of the leaves and in the beauty of the autumn; We remember them. At the beginning of the year and when...

“When will I be myself again?” Some Tuesday, perhaps, In the late afternoon, Sitting quietly with a cup of tea And a cookie; Or Wednesday, same time or later, You will stir from a nap and see her; You will pick up the phone to call her; You will hear her voice – unexpected advice – And maybe argue. And you will not be frightened, And you will not be sad, And you will not be alone, Not alone at all,...

Ge’ulah by Rabbi Rachel Barenblat of Bayit

by Haggadot

Coming through the sea was only the beginning. The giddiness of walking through walls of living water... But the story doesn’t end there. Now it’s desert, without a map. What if the next forty years are bone-dry and desolate? Maybe it wasn’t so bad, that life numb and familiar. Cucumbers and fish fresh from the Nile. Certainty: a fixed path. Now hope unfolds its mighty wings and every step risks failure. When I falter, remind me I didn’t cross the sea...

Introduction

Stepping Into the Evening

by Haggadot

Ma’ariv by Rabbi Rachel Barenblat of Bayit You mix the watercolors of the eveninglike my son, swishing his brushuntil the waters are black with paint. The sky is streaked and dimming. The sun wheels over the horizonlike a glowing penny falling into its slot.Day is spent, and in its place: the changing moon, the spatterdash of stars across the sky’s expanse.Every evening we tell ourselves the old story:You cover over our sins, forgiveness like a fleece blanket tucked around our ears. When we cry...

Prayer for Healing the Planet

by Haggadot

This prayer is an invitation to lean into your deepest values and truths, and a way of setting your intentions to take an active role in tikkun olam, repairing the world.May we hear and recognize our own calling,We are the ones with the capacity to heal,To nurture, and to repair the harm we have caused,And the harm of those who came before us.May we strive to practice tikkun olam, May we repair the world through collective actionSo that we can not...

Placing Ourselves in Relationship to Nature

by Haggadot

How do you relate to nature in the world? Ask yourself this question, and think about the different ways you interact with nature in your daily life. How does nature support you? Are there any ways in which you are supporting nature? And, how has your relationship with nature changed over the past few years? Have you observed or experienced shifts in weather such as stronger storms or blizzards, wildfires, or smoke? Thinking about this may bring up strong feelings such...

Pour the second glass of wine for everyone. The Haggadah doesn’t tell the story of Passover in a linear fashion. We don’t hear of Moses being found by the daughter of Pharaoh – actually, we don’t hear much of Moses at all. Instead, we get an impressionistic collection of songs, images, and stories of both the Exodus from Egypt and from Passover celebrations through the centuries. Some say that minimizing the role of Moses keeps us focused on the miracles God...

A Prayer for Human Rights by Rabbi Brant Rosen

by Haggadot

Ruach Kol Chai - Spirit of All that Lives: Help us.Help us to uphold the values that are so central to whom we are: human beings created B'tzelem Elohim- in the image of God. Help us to recognize that the inherent dignity of all members of the human family is the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world. Introduction

Preparing the Table

by Rabbi Zoë Klein

This is a compilation of ideas to help the seder be fun and engaging for the entire family.    Fun ideas for preparing the Passover table: 1. Include a Tzedakka box on the table. Have everyone put money in the tzedakah box before eating. 2. Yemenite Jews line the edge of the table all around with leaves of Romaine lettuce. The lettuce is then used for Maror.  3. Use maps of Egypt, Israel, and the Sinai desert as place mats.  4. Put...

Four Questions (sephardi)

by Sara Smith

Sephardim recite the Four Questions in the following order:  1. "On all other nights, we do not dip even once. Why on this night do we dip twice?" 2. "On all other nights we eat bread or matzah. Why on this night do we eat only matzah?  3. "On all other nights, we eat all kinds of herbs. Why on this night do we eat only maror?  4. "On all other nights, we eat either sitting or reclining. Why on this...

Ten Plagues (sephardi)

by Sara Smith

Now let's talk about the ten plagues. There was no dipping of fingers in wine. We were much too refined for that! My mother would walk up to my father with a large bowl and a glass of water. My father would recite the plagues one by one, and for each plague he would pour a bit of wine in the bowl from a special large wineglass, and my mother would pour a bit of the water. It was all done...

7 Modern Additions to the Seder Plate

by ReformJudaism.org

Passover offers a variety of opportunities to infuse our holiday celebrations with social justice themes, as evidenced by our Passover Social Justice Guide, created by the staff of the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism. There are also a number of modern additions to consider adding to your table: 1. AN ORANGE FOR LGBTQ+ EQUALITY Many families and congregations have begun adding an orange to the seder plate as a way of acknowledging the role of people who feel marginalized within...

Four Cups of Wine: Social Justice Readings for Your Seder

by ReformJudaism.org

While our tradition applies specific meaning to the four cups of wine found within the Passover seder, many modern Haggadot have begun to reinterpret the original four cups. The four cups are derived from four expressions of redemption found in Exodus 6:6-7: “I will bring you out;” “I will deliver you;” “I will redeem you;” and “I will take you.” Due to the positive, redemptive focus of each phrase, each cup could come to represent current groups that need to be...

Rebirth and Renewal with Hebrew

by Debra

In ancient times our people were farmers and shepherds. In this festive season, we are meant to feel a connection with the food we eat from the land and to remember that we are surrounded by blessings and miracles no less majestic than those our ancestors witnessed thousands of years ago. Spring reminds us that we are again given a chance for renewal; a new chance to create peace and goodness in our world. We dip karpas - greens - to...

Poetry - Reading The Haggadah Backwards

by Rabbi Daniel Brenner

I read the haggadah backwards this year I read the haggadah backwards this year The sea opens, the ancient Israelites slide back to Egypt like Michael Jackson doing the moonwalk Freedom to slavery That’s the real story One minute you’re dancing hallelujah with the prophetess the next you’re knee deep in brown in the basement of some minor pyramid   The angel of death comes back to life two zuzim are refunded.  When armies emerge from the sea like a returning scuba...

-- Four Questions

The 5th Question

by NEXT : A Division of Birthright Israel Foundation

“Why is this night different from all other nights?” The question is central to the telling of the Passover story and is followed in the traditional Seder with four more that elaborate on the holiday rituals: 1. On all other nights we eat either leavened and unleavened bread. Why on this night do we eat only unleavened bread? 2. On all other nights we eat all kinds of herbs. Why on this night do we eat only bitter herbs? 3. On...
