L'Chayim to Education!

“… Education is where we decide whether we love our children enough not to expel them from our world and leave them to their own devices, not to strike from their hands their chance of undertaking something new, something unforeseen by us, but to prepare them in advance for the task of renewing a common world. ” – Hannah Arendt, 1968

We are taking time to recognize that many of us are educators in some way or another, have been deeply inspired by the educators in our own lives, and cherish the education we received and continually receive. It is also important to recognize the way that education continues to be under attack, whether it's anti-DEI laws preventing those in higher education from receiving and distributing life-saving resources, or anti-LGBTQ policies in K-12 schools preventing teachers from even being able to talk about their spouses and lend support to vulnerable LGBTQ students in their institutions. May we all commit to lifelong learning and fighting for learning!

Blessed are You, Adonai, Ruler of the world, Creator of the fruit of the vine.

Blessed are You, Adonai, Sovereign of the universe, who has chosen us from among the peoples, exalting us by hallowing us with mitzvot. In Your love, Adonai, You have given us feasts of gladness, and seasons of joy; this Festival of Pesach, season of our freedom, a sacred occasion, a remembrance of the Exodus from Egypt. For You have chosen us from all peoples and consecrated us to Your service, and given us the Festivals, a time of gladness and joy.

Blessed are You, Adonai, who sanctifies Israel and the Festivals.

We praise Adonai, Ruler of Everything,

who has kept us alive, raised us up, and brought us to this happy moment.

Drink the first glass of wine!
