Maggid

The word “maggid” means narration, and comes from the same root as “Haggadah.” By telling the story, we remind ourselves, and relate to our children, why we are gathered here to celebrate this holiday.

ֲעָבִדים ָהִיינוּ ָהִיינו.ַעָתּהְבֵּניחוִֹריןּ Avadim hayinu hayinu. Ata b’nei chorin.

We were slaves to Pharaoh in Egypt. Now we are free.

In every generation, we are obligated to see ourselves as though we personally left Egypt. To make history real. What stories will we tell about our experiences in this frightening, confusing, and challenging year?
