Some may wish to add a second Seder plate with the following items.

Fair trade chocolate or coffee as a reminder of the slave labor that still exists in our world.

$15 as a reminder of the need for a living wage in our country.

Olives so that we remember to work for peace.

A simple potato to remind us of those who are hungry.

An orange so we remember that even in the sweetness of our tradition, we must spit our the seeds of homophobia, sexism, and racism.

A banana as a reminder of the humanity of today's refugees.

A teething ring/rattle as a symbol of hope in the generation that comes after us. A teething ring/rattle and not a pacifier because we should not silence our children's cries, but sooth their suffering.
