Deuteronomy 26:8

8. And the Lord brought us out from Egypt with a strong hand and with an outstretched arm, with great awe, and with signs and wonders.

And god fell into creation
amidst the pain and anger and despair
and through god’s cloud of confusion
he heard the cries of the people who created him
and their tears jarred him
and he reached out his arm
caressed their cheek
and lifted fingers trailing
rivers sweat tears
friday night tables
blinked into and
out of existence
and he stared at them in awe
and he felt their pain
the lash on his back
the sun ever present in his eyes
his eyes unseeing
he crafted signs and wonders and reshaped and started over
and
over again
and finally his strong hands cracked and bled
and he looked at them with satisfaction and pride
and he swept the people of Israel away
with careful attention to detail
plot development
suspense
reeking of polish and
they remembered as if they had been present
and they never forgave him.
